Solana (SOL), one of the leading layer-1 blockchains, has recorded a massive increase in transaction activity, with its non-vote transaction count more than doubling compared to late 2025.
According to a recent announcement by the official Solana account on X, the network processed a staggering 8.92 billion non-vote transactions in the third quarter of 2026.
Solana co-founder Anatoly Yakovenko, better known as Toly, responded to the milestone with a characteristically brief comment.
"Put the cryptography into the computer," he wrote on X, apparently celebrating the blockchain's growing adoption and activity.
The 104% growth represents a significant increase from approximately 4.38 billion transactions recorded in the fourth quarter of 2025.
Notably, Solana also recorded 7.54 billion transactions in the first quarter of 2026, followed by 7.19 billion in the second quarter.
This means that transaction activity increased by approximately 24% on a quarter-over-quarter basis in Q3, reversing the decline observed during the preceding quarter.
Solana activity surges
Non-vote transactions are particularly important for evaluating blockchain activity because they exclude the routine voting transactions that validators use to maintain network consensus.
Instead, they capture activity involving token transfers, decentralized applications, trading, and other interactions with the blockchain.
The latest figures suggest that Solana continues to experience substantial demand for its network infrastructure.
According to data compiled by Solana Compass, the blockchain processed approximately 3.18 billion completed non-vote transactions in September alone, marking its third consecutive monthly record.
However, the growing transaction count does not necessarily translate into an equivalent increase in individual users, since automated trading bots can account for significant on-chain activity.
Meanwhile, Solana's native SOL token was trading near the $104 level on Oct. 19, with a market capitalization of approximately $61 billion.
