Shiba Inu (SHIB) is closing out Q3 of 2026 with consistently strong performance, recovering in line with the global bullish trend in the cryptocurrency market.
As of September 23, amid a massive influx of liquidity into the crypto market, the popular cryptocurrency has recorded its best quarterly return in the past five years, establishing a solid technical foundation ahead of October.
Historically, the end of the third quarter has been considered the weakest period for SHIB, with September delivering an average return of just +5.5%. However, in 2026, according to data from CryptoRank, following a 24% correction in June, the coin transitioned into consecutive monthly gains in sync with the rest of the market.
In July, SHIB gained 12.2%, maintained its momentum in August (+7.55%), and rose another 19.4% in September so far. As a result, the asset's cumulative return for the third quarter has reached +44.1%, marking its best Q3 performance since the 2021 rally and putting the coin on track for its most bullish quarterly close in history.
Current price action on the weekly SHIB/USD chart confirms a local structural reversal. Following a prolonged decline that lasted throughout last year, the token formed a double-bottom reversal pattern in the $0.0000034–$0.0000045 range, from which it is gradually breaking out to the upside.
This recovery has been driven entirely by the macroeconomic backdrop: over the same period, the total cryptocurrency market capitalization (TOTAL) broke out of a prolonged consolidation, surging from $2.15 trillion to $2.89 trillion. The last time a synchronized breakout in RSI and global market volumes from a months-long period of stagnation was recorded was in late 2023.
Where is SHIB heading after its best Q3 in history?
The momentum established in September is bringing investors' attention back to October's historical statistics, known in the industry as "Uptober," and activating a hidden mathematical trigger.
SHIB's average October return stands at +167.5%. Professional market participants approach this figure with caution, as it is driven almost entirely by the asset's anomalous 833.6% surge in October 2021, while the median return stands at a much more conservative +6.04%.
Nevertheless, the key difference between the current situation and previous cycles is that SHIB is entering October not from a period of decline, but in a state of a sustained quarterly uptrend.
The nearest resistance level for buyers is the psychological threshold of $0.0000075, a breakout above which, supported by a strong Q3 close, would open the door for the asset to test long-term highs around $0.0000110.
