Ripple has drawn fresh attention across the crypto market following a series of large XRP transactions involving nearly 310 million tokens, raising questions about the purpose of the latest movements.
Whale Alert reported three large XRP transactions that occurred within minutes of each other a few hours ago. The most recent transaction was a transfer of 120,000,000 XRP ($150,565,645) from a Ripple-linked address to an unknown wallet.
Two transactions totalling 190 million XRP were sent to a Ripple-linked address from unknown wallets.
Whale Alert reported the two transactions: 90,000,001 XRP worth $112,962,219 and 99,999,999 XRP worth $125,555,158 were transferred from unknown wallets to Ripple separately.
The latest transactions may be related to treasury management, internal wallet reshuffling or other operational purposes and not necessarily sales of XRP. But until Ripple says more, it is not clear what it is trying to do.
Timing remains significant
The timing of Ripple's XRP move remains significant, coming after the conclusion of the Swell event in NYC, which was held from October 27 to 29, 2026, and the Binance hack. As a result, the three transfers totalling 310 million XRP have put Ripple's XRP activity in focus.
The recently concluded Swell event puts XRP under the spotlight, with Ripple CEO Brad Garlinghouse saying the cryptocurrency remains the company's top priority and that it continues to serve as a bridge between currency pairs. "We only want to do things that are good for XRP," Garlinghouse stated.
Major crypto exchange Binance suffered a hack on October 29, 2026, with an estimated impact of $6.3 billion—$300 million in XRP and $6 billion across 141 transfers on nine chains, according to an Arkham Intelligence report.
In an X post shared by Ripple's SVP of stablecoins, Jack McDonald, the company is closely monitoring reports of a potential exploit involving Binance and its attackers' RLUSD holdings and is actively freezing affected funds. In this regard, Binance Co-CEO Yi He appreciated the Ripple team for freezing $200 million in assets.
