As XRP's official X account went live, Ripple President Monica Long shared a message celebrating the people who built around XRP before its broader potential became obvious.
Engaging with the XRP official account's post, Long wrote on X: "The best part has been watching people build on something before it was obvious. Welcome @xrp!" Long added, celebrating the latest social media milestone while highlighting the importance of early builders who continued developing around the digital asset before it attracted wider recognition.
Long's comments pointed to the role developers, builders, and community members play in growing the XRP ecosystem. The cryptocurrency has 8,247,694 addresses, a sign of the ecosystem's growth, according to XRP Scan.
On October 19, 2026 in a historic milestone, XRP's official X account went live under the @XRP handle after more than a decade, drawing enthusiastic reactions from Ripple executives and the wider XRP community. This marks more than 14 years after the XRP Ledger was initially launched.
In 2011, three engineers—David Schwartz, Jed McCaleb, and Arthur Britto—began developing the XRP Ledger (XRPL), which later launched for the first time in June 2012.
The official XRP account posted its first message on X on October 19, a short logo video with the words "hello, world. It's about time." The post passed 260,000 views in about an hour and has surpassed 4 million views in less than 24 hours.
"This one has been a long time coming," Ripple CEO Brad Garlinghouse said in reaction to the debut of the official XRP X account.
Warning issued amid XRP buzz
In an earlier post, Hussein Zangana (Vet) hinted at many great announcements lately from big companies and institutions around XRP and the XRP Ledger. "I think this will probably accelerate in the coming weeks," he added.
In this regard, Vet urged the XRP community to be cautious of scammers using vanity addresses and tokens to sell to them in exchange for real XRP/RLUSD.
Users are urged to treat everything offered, or that they see on explorers, as suspicious by default. They can only know if an XRP account or asset is legitimate if the institution or company discloses it on their official press sites; in other words, they should verify all information from official sources.
