Cryptocurrency exchange Binance will allow withdrawals for major cryptocurrencies such as XRP, Bitcoin (BTC), Ethereum (ETH), and Solana (SOL), among others, after suspending withdrawals because of a massive security breach involving $6.3 billion.
Binance announced on Nov. 1 that the exchange would begin resuming withdrawal services between 06:00 and 09:00 UTC.
Binance emphasized that the withdrawal resumption process will be carried out progressively as the exchange conducts security and infrastructure readiness checks.
"We aim to restore withdrawals progressively as we complete security and readiness checks," said Binance.
Binance continued to offer deposit services during the security breach.
XRP, Bitcoin and more major assets to be enabled
The first phase of withdrawal resumption will include a total of 15 blockchain networks.
This list includes popular networks such as Bitcoin, Ethereum, XRP Ledger, BNB Smart Chain, Solana, Tron, and Dogecoin.
Other cryptocurrencies that will be available for withdrawals include Zcash (ZEC), Avalanche (AVAX), Sui (SUI), Polygon (POL) and Arbitrum (ARB).
Withdrawals of major stablecoins such as Tether (USDT) and USD Coin (USDC) will also be enabled on multiple networks.
The exchange noted that it selected the assets based on user withdrawal demand over the past week.
The exchange also warned that not all listed cryptocurrencies and networks may be enabled at the same time.
Binance reveals it has recovered 95% of stolen assets
The withdrawal resumption comes only days after Binance suffered a massive security breach.
The breach led to the theft of around $6.3 billion worth of cryptocurrencies from the exchange's hot wallets.
The exchange temporarily paused withdrawals in order to contain the damage, conduct an investigation into the security breach and avoid additional losses.
Binance has now disclosed that it has recovered around 95% of affected assets.
This is up from 90% when Binance last provided an update on the recovery process.
The exchange said that it has fully backed the balances of cryptocurrencies like Bitcoin, Ethereum, XRP, Solana, BNB, USDT, USDC, Zcash, USD1, and Ripple USD (RLUSD).
The remaining 5% includes cryptocurrencies that are less liquid and harder to buy in large amounts.
