Japanese cryptocurrency exchange BitFlyer has issued a notice regarding Stellar (XLM) deposits after incoming transactions were not credited to client accounts in the usual manner, attributing the issue to access restrictions on the official Stellar API.
The issue started at around 11:49 p.m. Japan Standard Time on Monday, October 19, 2026, BitFlyer said in an X post. The exchange said it uses the official API of the Stellar Development Foundation to process inbound XLM payments, but the access limitations have affected its normal crediting process.
"Since approximately 11:49 pm (JST) on Monday, October 19, 2026, Stellar Lumens (XLM) received from external sources has not been credited to BitFlyer accounts as usual. This is due to access restrictions on the official Stellar API (Stellar Development Foundation), which BitFlyer uses," BitFlyer wrote.
BitFlyer said it is working to resume crediting through alternative means. However, it did not provide a specific timeline for when incoming XLM deposits would resume being credited. At press time, no further update had been provided.
Despite the disruption, BitFlyer clarified that the issue does not affect the sending of Stellar (XLM) or the receiving and sending of other supported crypto assets.
According to the notice, the problem concerns the crediting of incoming transfers (deposits) to BitFlyer accounts, as customers sending XLM to the exchange may encounter delays, rather than a general suspension of Stellar transactions.
Stellar sees Q3 growth

In Q3 2026, several partnerships moved into pilots and production as total volume grew over the same period, and work began on uses for tokenized assets beyond holding. Total volume on Stellar reached $33.2 billion in Q3, up 71% against Q2 and 62% against the same quarter last year.
Stablecoin transfer volume grew faster still, up 121% quarter over quarter to $25.1 billion, and stablecoin velocity rose 55% before the transferred tokens appeared in their account balances.
Tokenized real-world assets on Stellar stood at $4.1 billion at the close of Q3, up 36% against Q2 and 548% against Q3 2025.
