Samsung has added Solana-based stablecoin payments to 82 million Galaxy phones in its latest crypto expansion in the U.S.
According to the announcement from the Solana Foundation, the South Korean tech giant has teamed up with Solana to add cross-border payments to Samsung Wallet using the stablecoin USDC.
The cross-border payments feature will be live the last week of October 2026. Because of it, users won't need to download any separate crypto apps to send digital dollars cross-border.
The integration will rely on Solana blockchain infrastructure in the background and will feature fiat on- and off-ramps integrated into the app to swap between stablecoins and local currencies.
Eligible users can send USDC to compatible crypto wallets without transfer fees from Samsung. There will also be the option to send funds to eligible bank accounts in over 60 countries, but those will have transfer fees.
The feature is rolling out initially on 82 million compatible Samsung Wallet Galaxy devices in the U.S. but there will be eligibility and ID verification.
Samsung is also partnering with Coinbase and Bastion to offer stablecoin custody and payment infrastructure. USDC will be held in Coinbase Prime, and Samsung is integrating the Sui blockchain for its stablecoin expansion.
The news comes as there's been a massive boom in stablecoins on Solana. Per the Solana Foundation, stablecoin supply on the blockchain is up almost 20% in the last 12 months.
So far in 2026, there's been over $5.25 trillion in stablecoin transaction volume on Solana.
Samsung's involvement in crypto
Samsung's Past Crypto Forays Samsung is not a new face in the crypto space. The company's been pushing into the blockchain space since at least 2019 with its Samsung Blockchain Keystore that launched alongside the flagship Galaxy S10 smartphone.
The technology enabled private key storage of crypto securely on mobile devices. Samsung Blockchain Wallet was also available to manage digital assets and use decentralized apps.
Samsung further enhanced its blockchain capabilities in 2021 by adding support for hardware wallets like Ledger Nano S and Nano X. At the time, the company's blockchain wallet supported Bitcoin, Ethereum, Tron and a variety of tokens.
Recently, Samsung has also been working closer with major crypto exchange Coinbase.
In July 2025, Samsung Pay was added to Coinbase, which made it possible for eligible users to buy cryptocurrencies and add funds to their trading accounts via Samsung's payment service.
In October 2025, the two expanded the partnership further as users of Samsung Wallet gained access to promotional Coinbase One subscriptions and other crypto perks.
