Blockchain company Ripple has scored another big win with institutional players by deepening its partnership with the global alternative investment firm Brevan Howard.
As per the newly announced partnership on Tuesday, Ripple Prime will offer multi-asset prime brokerage, clearing, and financing services to the funds under the management of Brevan Howard. Brevan Howard manages about $35 billion of assets on behalf of institutional investors.
Basically, it means Ripple just added more financial plumbing to the stack for one of the most prominent alternative investment firms in the world.
Ripple's collaboration with Brevan Howard
Prime brokers serve as the backbone of the big investment firms, offering them the support they need to carry out and fund trades, handle collateral, and clear deals.
Instead of going down multiple routes and having multiple pools of collateral for different markets, Brevan Howard can simply leverage the Ripple Prime infrastructure for various asset classes and products.
Ripple Prime supports traditional and crypto markets, encompassing digital assets, foreign exchange, derivatives, swaps, and fixed income. Ripple claims that they clear more than $3 trillion per year through their platform and works with more than 300 institutional clients.
For Brevan Howard, it is all about operational efficiencies. Basically, Brevan Howard investment teams will be able to tap into different markets through the same prime brokerage infrastructure. This can simplify financing and capital management for various positions, in a sense.
Specifically, Brevan Howard Group COO Alan McGroarty highlighted this convergence of traditional and digital markets. He said institutional investors are more and more in need of digital asset infrastructure that can easily integrate with their existing operations.
It should be noted here that there's nothing in this announcement mentioning that Brevan Howard will be buying XRP or leveraging the RLUSD stablecoin from Ripple, as part of this partnership. For now, it is more about adopting Ripple's institutional brokerage infrastructure.
These two were already linked well before the recent deal. Back in November 2025, Brevan Howard affiliates funds were among the investors in Ripple's strategic equity investment of $500 million. Other prominent financial firms were also part of that investment round.
