Ripple has partnered with Coinbase and Robinhood to expand access to its Ripple USD (RLUSD) stablecoin across retail trading, institutional markets, and financial operations. Coinbase has launched RLUSD across its retail app, exchange, and institutional platform, while Robinhood plans to integrate the stablecoin into its broader ecosystem. With RLUSD’s market capitalization exceeding $2.4 billion, the partnerships strengthen Ripple’s efforts to expand stablecoin adoption and connect blockchain infrastructure with traditional finance.

Coinbase Integrates Ripple’s RLUSD Across Trading Platforms

On October 28, 2026, Ripple announced that RLUSD was launching across Coinbase Prime, Coinbase Exchange, and the Coinbase Retail app. Retail and institutional customers can trade and manage the stablecoin, with one-to-one conversion available from U.S. dollars and other supported USD-denominated stablecoins.

Coinbase Global Exchange customers are expected to receive access later, including the ability to use RLUSD as collateral.

The integration supports deposits and withdrawals across the XRP Ledger (XRPL), Base, and Ethereum. Ripple will also provide liquidity on Base to support RLUSD’s expansion across blockchain ecosystems.

The partnership connects RLUSD with Coinbase’s exchange and institutional infrastructure, potentially increasing its accessibility for traders and businesses. However, the announcement does not establish how much additional trading activity the integration will generate.

“Institutional appetite for compliant, high-quality stablecoins is clear. The challenge is making them readily available through the platforms institutions already trust and use,” said Jack McDonald, SVP of Stablecoins at Ripple. “Our partnership with Coinbase meets that demand head on. It brings RLUSD to the largest institutional client base in the U.S. crypto market, across execution, settlement, and custody—all in one place.”

Robinhood Adds RLUSD to Institutional Financial Operations

This Coinbase partnership follows that the company announced on October 27 with Robinhood. RLUSD is currently listed on Robinhood Chain and Bitstamp through Robinhood, with the plan to list it in Robinhood soon in 2026.

Robinhood will utilize RLUSD on XRPL in their institutional settlement process. Another component in this partnership is Ripple Treasury, which Robinhood plans to utilize in cash management, liquidity prediction, payments, and risk management.

Furthermore, Ripple Prime will continue backing Bitstamp through Robinhood via lending, margin financing, and institution market access. The perpetual futures trading on Bitstamp is scheduled to occur sometime this year.

This creates additional use cases for RLUSD, as the company is no longer just an issuer of stablecoins but has moved onto institutional settlement and treasury infrastructures.

RLUSD Market Capitalization Exceeds $2.4 Billion

In terms of market capitalization, RLUSD had reached a value higher than $2.4 billion since its inception in December 2024, as stated by the company. At present, the total supply of stablecoins has crossed the $300 billion mark, highlighting the sector’s expanding role in digital finance.

Coinbase allows access to retail and institutional investors, whereas Robinhood is responsible for bringing a huge consumer base and also institutional products via Bitstamp. In combination, they expand the reach of RLUSD into trading and finance.

Multiple chain support also provides more flexibility for transferring RLUSD on XRPL, Base, and Ethereum networks. The liquidity support on Base provided by the company could also facilitate activities on the network.

However, wider availability is no guarantee of increased transaction volume and continued demand. The circulating supply, exchange liquidity, and transactions completed will provide a measure of success for the partnerships.

RLUSD Adoption Depends on Liquidity and Redemption

As opposed to XRP, RLUSD is created to ensure that the asset will always be valued at par to the American dollar. In other words, RLUSD’s performance depends on factors like reserve stability, liquidity, and redeemability.

According to the company, the stablecoin is created on the basis of reserves of the firm. Reserves include funds in U.S. dollars, short-term American Treasury securities, and other money equivalents.

RLUSD’s future milestones would involve its expansion into the Coinbase Global Exchange, support for collateral, and its inclusion in the Robinhood app. The incorporation of Treasury and other institutional features would be indicative of its adoption outside of trading as well.

The partnerships from Ripple give more reach to RLUSD in both retail and institutional markets. However, continued growth will require liquidity, redeemability, and usability as stablecoins compete with each other.
