Blockchain tracking service Whale Alert has reported that a wallet linked to the massive $6.3 billion Binance hack has just sent 40 million XRP (~$50.5 million) to a mystery address.
On Nov. 2, Whale Alert shared information about the huge XRP transfer, noting that the transaction initiator is an address tagged "Binance Hack 2026."
The huge transfer took place at 03:56 UTC, Whale Alert data shows. The transaction involved 40 million XRP (~$50.46 million).
Interestingly, just 50 seconds before that, Whale Alert reported another transfer of 40 million XRP.
Another 40 million XRP (~$50.44 million) was also sent from the wallet tagged as "Binance Hack 2026" to a mystery address.
In total, these two transfers involved 80 million XRP (~$100.9 million).
Both transfers originated from the same wallet but were sent to separate mystery addresses.
It is still unclear why these transfers were made. There is no sign that these funds have been sent to a crypto exchange or sold yet.
The transactions took place just days after Binance faced one of the biggest cryptocurrency hacks ever.
Restoring XRP withdrawals
The massive XRP transfers came shortly after Binance started to restore cryptocurrency withdrawals following the unprecedented security breach the cryptocurrency exchange faced.
On Nov. 1, Binance annonced that the exchange would restore withdrawals in phases for 15 blockchain networks, including XRP Ledger, Bitcoin, Ethereum, BNB Smart Chain and Solana.
It also mentioned that withdrawals would be gradually restored for other networks, such as Tron, Dogecoin, Zcash, Avalanche, Sui, Polygon and Arbitrum.
The first stage of withdrawal resumption was set to take place between 06:00 and 09:00 UTC on Nov. 1.
After Binance faced a security breach on Oct. 29, which led to the loss of around $6.3 billion worth of cryptocurrency from its hot wallets, it temporarily paused withdrawals.
The exchange noted that withdrawals would be restored gradually after the security and infrastructure checks had been performed.
Binance also said that XRP balances were already fully backed, as were those of other major cryptocurrencies, including Bitcoin, Ethereum, Solana and BNB.
Binance claimed that, as of Nov. 1, around 95% of affected assets had been replenished. The remaining 5% consists primarily of less liquid cryptocurrencies.
