One of the largest Bitcoin-focused conferences of the year, Bitcoin 2020, has been postponed from the original date of March 27 & 28, 2020, to sometime in Q3, with the organizers unsurprisingly citing the rapid escalation of COVID-19 in California and worldwide as a reason.
Per an update shared with Coinfomania as media partners to the event, the Bitcoin 2020 team had hoped to push through with the event, by applying the best health practices for attendees, and also working with a cleaning company to sanitize the location of the event in San Francisco.
However, the decision to postponed became unavoidable following this week’s State of Emergency declaration by Governor Newsom of California and yesterday’s announcement by Mayor Breed that community transmission in the city is now highly probable.
New Date for Bitcoin 2020
At this time, the organizers have only revealed that the event will now take place in Q3 2020, with a precise date expected to be made available in the coming months as the COVID-19 situation comes under control.
Noteworthily, though, the team reiterated its commitment to make Bitcoin 2020 still the biggest and best celebration of Bitcoin in history at this later date. Prospective attendees who bought tickets to Bitcoin 2020 will be automatically transferred to the new date, with no further effort required on their part to be registered for the event.
Meanwhile, Bitcoin 2020 is now the second-largest crypto-related event to be called off in the space of a week. Earlier, Coinfomania reported that the Paris Blockchain Week Summit (PBWS) slated for April was postponed to December the spread of COVID-19.
